Vendor Biography

AuSome GrowSome CIC is a hydroponics based vertical farm to engage with the autistic people and marginalised communities. It was founded by Dr Anita Yakkundi , who has over 20 years’ experience in autism and varying learning needs through her journey with her daughter. Anita is also an educator and scientist and food enthusiast, passionate to create an inclusive space for the marginalised whilst contributing to the local economy. Our indoor hydroponic cultivation unit is set up in a greenhouse and we have been growing microgreens for over a year and have started vertical wall for growing salads and herbs. AuSome GrowSome CIC aims to address 1) an economic aspect by creating a local supply of green produce using the soiless method of cultivation and 2) a social need by providing training and potential employment opportunity for autistic and special needs communities in various aspects of the cultivation, packaging and distribution processes.
